Luis Rioja and Dani Gómez debut as scorers for Valencia CF
40,896 Valencianistas were thrilled with the goals and the team's victory at Mestalla
Valencia CF returned to winning ways in LALIGA EA SPORTS after securing all three points against Girona FC at Mestalla.
Nearly 41,000 fans cheered the team to victory in this important match in which the main protagonists were Luis Rioja and Dani Gómez, who scored the Valencianistas goals, and Mamardashvili, who had another stellar performance to close down the Valencia CF goal and not concede a goal.
After a balanced first half, it was time for Luis Rioja. In the 55th minute, he received the ball in the three-quarter area and hit a left-footed shot that touched an opponent's defender and was poisoned into Gazzaniga's goal. Mestalla vibrated and went wild.
With this push of the goal and the strength of the fans, the team continued to 'squeeze' Girona FC and, just two minutes after taking the lead, came the second for Valencia CF. Dani Gómez took a great shot from outside the area and the ball brushed an opponent, making it impossible for the Argentine goalkeeper to save. The Valencianista team put the double advantage in the locker.
However, there were still 30 minutes left to play and Mamardashvili again came up with a great save, clearing a shot from a corner. The Georgian goalkeeper once again earned the recognition of the entire Mestalla. The score remained unchanged and Valencia CF secured their first win of the season.
After this very incumbent triumph, the team will look for another positive result next Tuesday against CA Osasuna (19:00h), again at the Mestalla.
